I attended Liberty University and received my Master's Degree in Professional Counseling. I believe people have intrinsic value and are capable of taking control of their situations by starting with taking control of their thought life. I use a variety of professional tools, but most especially Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I love mosaics because they are broken pieces that have been fitted together to make something exceptional and beautiful. For the same reason I love kintsugi. Kintsugi, also known as Kintsukuroi, is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum, a method similar to the maki-e technique. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise. I believe people have that same ability to take the broken pieces of their lives and create beauty, and without those broken pieces, there would be no mosaic.
